If you really want to make yourself feel at home you might want to paint your walls and hang up pictures and posters. Read your lease entirely and see what kind of changes you can make. If there is nothing in the contract, chances are you can paint a wall, but be sure and ask the apartment manager. You will probably have to change it back when you move out.

Keep A list

Keep a notebook handy and with specific questions you would like to ask each property. After you tour all of the properties you will be able to compare your answers for each apartment. Sometimes its hard to remember all of the properties you have toured.

Think about all of the places you have lived before. You should be able to come up with a list of questions based upon your past living experiences.  Places of entertainment, locations, drive times, and amenities may all be important to you.
